چکیده

Abstract. Model-based interpolation, prediction, and approximation are contingent on the choice of model: since multiple alternative models typically can reasonably be entertained for each of these tasks, and the results are correspondingly varied, this often is a considerable source of uncertainty. Several statistical methods are illustrated that can be used to assess the contribution that this uncertainty component makes to the uncertainty budget: when interpolating concentrations of greenhouse gases over Indianapolis, predicting the viral load in a patient infected with influenza A, and approximating the solution of the kinetic equations that model the progression of the infection.

A New High-order Takagi-Sugeno Fuzzy Model Based on Deformed Linear Models

Amongst possible choices for identifying complicated processes for prediction, simulation, and approximation applications, high-order Takagi-Sugeno (TS) fuzzy models are fitting tools. Although they can construct models with rather high complexity, they are not as interpretable as first-order TS fuzzy models. In this paper, we first propose to use Deformed Linear Models (DLMs) in consequence pa...

Approximation of a Fuzzy Function by Using Radial Basis Functions Interpolation

In the present paper, Radial Basis Function interpolations are applied to approximate a fuzzy function $tilde{f}:Rrightarrow mathcal{F}(R)$, on a discrete point set $X={x_1,x_2,ldots,x_n}$, by a fuzzy-valued function $tilde{S}$. RBFs are based on linear combinations of terms which include a single univariate function. Applying RBF to approximate a fuzzy function, a linear system wil...

New Optimal Observer Design Based on State Prediction for a Class of Non-linear Systems Through Approximation

This paper deals with the optimal state observer of non-linear systems based on a new strategy. Despite the development of state prediction in linear systems, state prediction for non-linear systems is still challenging. In this paper, to obtain a future estimation of the system states, initially Taylor series expansion of states in their receding horizons was achieved to any specified order an...

Estimating the wrong Markov random field: Benefits in the computation-limited setting

Consider the problem of joint parameter estimation and prediction in a Markov random field: i.e., the model parameters are estimated on the basis of an initial set of data, and then the fitted model is used to perform prediction (e.g., smoothing, denoising, interpolation) on a new noisy observation. Working in the computation-limited setting, we analyze a joint method in which the same convex v...

Inconsistent parameter estimation in Markov random fields: Benefits in the computation-limited setting

Working under the restriction of limited computation, we analyze a joint method in which the sam...
